The annual Easter Dinner was held at the Masonic Hall, Valletta on Saturday 30th March 2013.
The event was well supported and it was encouraging to see a number of non-Masonic attendees who have no connection with Masonry other than being friends of members.
Toward the end of a very enjoyable evening, the Grand Inspector thanked everyone for coming and also those who had helped to organise and run the event, particularly Maggie Roberts who does such an excellent job as our social secretary. The Caterer and his staff received a warm round of applause for the fine food and good service they had provided.
All in all a great success which will hopefully be repeated next year.
At the end of 2012 our then Grand Inspector, VW Bro Ted Wibrew, stood down and, effective 1st January 2013, the Grand Master, MW Bro HRH the Duke of Kent, appointed VW Bro Dr Lawrence Porter as the new Grand Inspector of the Malta Group of Lodges and also Grand Inspector of the Chapter in Malta.
On 4th February 2013 the Assistant Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England travelled to Malta to invest Bro Lawrence with his chain of office. This took place at a Regular Meeting of the Lodge of St John and St Paul No 349. The Assistant Grand Master was accompanied by the Grand Secretary, Very Worshipful Brother Nigel Brown, who read Bro Lawrence's Patent of Appointment from the Grand Master, HRH the Duke of Kent. VW Bro Brown also acted as Grand Director of Ceremonies and oversaw the various processions and ceremonial associated with the investiture.
